PDC March Meeting Notes

Submitted by Marie Gerritz – PDC Secretary Pro Temp

On 3/18/14, the Providence District Council hosted a community meeting regarding Fairfax County’s Fiscal Year 2015 Budget plan. The county’s flat revenue growth and increasing requirements for services poses a projected budget gap in FY2015 & 2016. Potential ways to fill the shortfalls including services that may be impacted were discussed.

Some residents moved to Fairfax County specifically for the great schools. They are concerned over the potential school budget and impacts. Property owners attending the meeting expressed concern over the rising real estate assessments and tax increases. Residents on a fixed income may need to leave the homes they’ve lived in for so many years.

It’s not too late to be heard. To sign up to speak at one of the public hearings, call the Clerk to the Board’s Office at (703) 324-3151 or (703) 324-2391 (TTY 711) or to access the form to sign up to speak, go to http//www.fairfaxcounty.gov/bosclerk/speaker_bos.htm
