PDC Letter Cites Improvements in Fairfax Forward

The Providence District Council has submitted a letter to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors regarding Fairfax Forward, a proposed new process for evaluating land use that was the subject of the PDC’s April meeting.

The letter, signed by the PDC’s board of directors, noted concerns that the staff’s original  Feb. 20 report “could be construed, now and in the future, in a way that reduces, rather than expands, the community’s role in charting the county’s future.”

The letter further noted that significant improvements had been achieved through ongoing dialogue with the county planning staff. “These changes clarify and enhance the community’s role in ways that remove many of the perceived omissions in the Feb. 20 staff report. At the same time, other repairs can only be made by the Board of Supervisors, individually and collectively,” the letter said.

The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to discuss Fairfax Forward on July 9.
