With major storms becoming a seemingly ever more frequent event, putting our region and others at heightened risk of widespread power outages and other systems shutdowns, the focus of the Nov. 20 Providence District Council meeting will be emergency preparedness and response. The meeting will begin at 7:15 p.m. at the Dunn Loring Administrative Center, 2334 Gallows Road, Dunn Loring, VA 22027.
Marcelo Ferreira, community liaison for Fairfax County’s Office of Emergency Management, will discuss preparation for, and response to, major emergencies. In light of last summer’s “derecho” storm, which caused days of power outage, and the recent near miss with Hurricane Sandy, Marcelo has been asked to include weather crises in his discussion.
The meeting will be in the Administrative Center’s training room, through the left hand entrance. The center is at the corner of Idylwood and Gallows roads.
