McLean Citizens Host Oct. 2 Event on Tysons Corner

The McLean Citizens Association has extended the following reminder, about an Oct. 2 meeting focusing on Tysons Corner transportation improvements. This topic also will be covered an Oct. 10 Providence District Council meeting. The Board of Supervisors will consider and take public testimony on a plan for Tysons on Oct. 16.

The following invitation is from MCA President Sally Horn:

Dear MCA Board Members, friends, neighbors and other interested parties,

Just to remind —

MCA’s Fall membership meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 2 from 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm at the Mclean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Avenue, McLean. We have a dynamite program planned regarding the County’s proposed approach to fund the $3.1 Billion in transportation improvements that are required to transform Tysons into a vibrant urban center. Our panelists will cover three topics:

1. The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors’ approved plan for turning Tysons into an urban center;

2. The Planning Commission’s recommendations, just presented the morning of October 2 to the Board of Supervisors, for financing the Tysons transportation improvements through a combination of private and public sector (federal, state, regional, and local) funding mechanisms; and

3. The funding mechanisms (General Obligation Funds, tax revenues, bonds, etc.) available to the County for paying Fairfax County’s share of the public sector contribution.

Our panelists include MCA experts; the Chair and Dranesville District member of the Planning Commission’s Tysons Committee, Walter Alcorn and Jay Donahue respectively; the Director of the County Office of Community Revitalization Barbara Byron; and County experts on financing and transportation. There will be ample time for questions and answers.

We sincerely hope that you will be able to come and participate, and again invite you to pass this invitation on to your friends and neighbors as well.

Sincerely,

Sally K. Horn

President
